Kingscross Care Home
RDA worked with the Executive Care Group, to provide a complex of dementia care buildings totalling 21 accommodation with care units and 91 residential care bedrooms.
The massing of the development was designed to provide six distinct, but adjoining, ‘domestic scale’ buildings, predominantly on two storeys. The buildings have been carefully positioned to reflect the geometry of the site whist respecting the established tree belt to the Miley Urban Wildlife Nature Reserve and are set back from the busy road junction cornering the site.
Safe external courtyard spaces were personalised to the various buildings and the varying needs of the residents. Meandering pathways throughout the wider fully landscaped site also provide residents and visitors the opportunity to maximise the garden spaces within a secure environment.
The proposal provided the Executive Care Group with a building that could adapt to residents with varying requirements of dementia.
